A hernia is a protruded sac that in the abdominal cavity happens when an organ pushes through a hole in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place. A weak area of the abdominal wall may be broken by the intestines. There are several types of hernia such as inguinal, umbilical, hiatal, and ventral hernia. Sometimes a hernia can be life-threatening and may need surgery to avoid serious complications.
